Event
The Catalina High School and Blue Pants Racing are proud to present the 1st annual 1 Mile Race. The event is open to all ages and abilities. All proceed will benefit the Catalina High's Track and Cross Country Teams and Athletic Department.
The event takes place on the high school's track. You will run in age-group (5 year) specific waves. Awards to top three finishers in each age-group. Prize-money for top finishers and those who break 4:30 (M) and 5:20 (F). T-shirt and a free dinner for all participants. Music and family activities on the infield during the race. Elite Race, Hotdog Mile and BIG GUYS' Race at the end!!! Up to 50% off if you sign up as a team. To be elegible for the Elite Race and time bonus you will have to register before August 20th! Please e-mail us if you have any questions regarding the Elite Race.
About Catalina High Track and Cross Country
Eight years ago, Catalina Track and Cross Country programs were posting losing records every season. Catalina teams were near or at the bottom of our region meet for many years. After a lot of hard work by dedicated students and coaches, the Track and Cross Country programs at Catalina are now among the best in the state.
Some recent accomplishments are as follows.
Track: 2007 Girls 800 state champ, Boys 800 state champ two years in a
row (2008 3rd fastest 800 in nation @ 1:51), Boys 3200 region champ two years in a row, 2008 Boys 1600 5th place state
(freshman @ 4:29), 2008 Boys 3200 6th place state, Girls 1600 4th place state, Girls 3200 4th place state, Girls 800 4th
place state, 2008 Boys 4x800 state champs @8:01, 2008 Boys 4x400 state champs, 2008 Girls 4x800 state 3rd, 2008 Girls
4x400 state 3rd, Girls 2008 region champs, Boys 2008 State runners-up.
Cross Country: 2006 Girls state champs, 2006 Boys state runners-up, 2007 Girls state 3rd, 2007 Boys state 3rd.
Team goals are for both Girls and Boys to finish in the top two in both Track and Cross Country this coming season. They had a team GPA of 3.3 last Track season, and 3.5 last Cross Country season. They stress the following with all student athletes: 1. Performance in the classroom, 2. Dedication to the sport and the team concept, 3. Respect for oneself, one another, and one’s opponents, 4. Work hard but have fun.
Distances
1 mile (true mile-1609 m, 4 laps+9 meters) around the track for everyone!

Race Information
The event will be separated into 11 waves (5 year age groups) and they will start once the previous wave is finished. Teams with 25+ members will have their own wave. Click here for team forms! Up to 50% off if you sign up as a team!
We'll have a TV for those who want to watch the Olympic Marathon.
Packet Pickup and Late Registration: Catalina High School from 5:00 PM. Registration and packet pickup will be available during the entire event.

Fees
$20 before August 20 and $25 between August 20 and 23 or $5 (ages 18 and under, no fee increase). Up to 50% off if you register as a team. To avoid the online processing fee please dowload a registration form and mail to P.O. Box 41832, Tucson, AZ 85717. Application forms are available at your school, any gym or local athletic stores.
Schedule
5:00 PM: Late registration
6:00 PM: Wave start: 1-14, 60+, 55-59, 50-54, 45-49, 40-44, walkers, 35-39, 30-34, 25-29, 20-24, 15-19 (all waves will be staged and started by USATF certified officials.
